The South African cricket team, ready for a two-match Test series, will take on India starting November 14. The opening Test will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, while the second match is scheduled in Guwahati from November 22. This series forms part of the ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle, so it is significant for both sides to begin consolidating their positions early in the standings. While India and South Africa come into this series in fine fettle, the former won their last Test series 2-0 against the West Indies, while the latter managed to play out a 1-1 draw against Pakistan on pitches which were friendly to the slower bowlers. With both sides at full strength, a riveting contest between bat and ball can be expected. Also Read | Is Dhruv Jurel certain for Ind vs SA first Test? Asst Coach provides update South Africa's Last Test Win in India Came 15 Years Ago Factoring in the conditions, it was always going to be tough for a visiting team to win in India, and thus South Africa have really struggled here. In the 19 Tests played between the two teams in India, India have won 11 while South Africa have only five wins, with three games ending in draws. The last time South Africa won a Test series in India was in 2010 at Nagpur. It was one of those matches where the Proteas looked superior in all three departments of the game. Batting first, South Africa posted a huge total of 558 runs. Hashim Amla, with his unbeaten 253, was the star of the innings, supported by Jacques Kallis' 173 runs. India, in response, were only able to manage 233 runs in the first innings and never managed to recover. Following on, they could only get to 319 in their second innings as they lost by an innings and six runs. The win provided South Africa with a great start to the series, but since then, they have failed to beat India in their home conditions.
