A common man, Manish from Ghaziabad, Chhattisgarh, had activated a number with a Reliance Jio Sim Card in late June. But he had zero idea whose number it could have been. One fine day, when he received a call from the IPL winning captain Rajat Patidar, a very usual disbelief and humour made them say, "And we're MS Dhoni." Well, this is not actually an unusual incident. We all get wrong calls claiming the number belongs to someone they know! But none expect someone like Virat Kohli or AB de Villiers to call! The number Manish took was initially used by Rajat Patidar, who led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their maiden IPL trophy in 2025. A report from NDTV said that his number was inactive for 90 days. And thus, his number was deactivated by the telecom provider. His number was thereafter reassigned to Manish, and there started the confusion. After activation, Manish's friend Khemraj noticed Patidar's photo in the WhatsApp display photo. And then came calls from Patidar's teammates and coaches. Initially it was fun for the two young boys. They even gave a fun response to Patidar, even after the latter tried to explain the heat of the situation—that his number is an important mode for his connection with the coaches and other personalities of the team. The boys brushed off the gravity, and things escalated. Read also: Akash Deep Shares Wisdom from Senior Indian Cricketers What did Rajat Patidar do after that? When Manish brushed off the request, Patidar threatened him to call the police. Patidar sought help from the Chattisgarh police, and within ten minutes the police reached Manish's place. After that, Manish understood his ground. He soon cooperated with the police and returned the sim card. Reflecting on the incident, Manish said that he never expected a wrong number to actually land a dream call with Virat Kohli. Manish said, “I got to speak to Kohli because of a wrong number. My life’s goal is complete."
