Virat Kohli was full of emotion after Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted their maiden IPL trophy, but the victory wasn’t just about ending an 18-year wait, it was also about the quiet strength behind the scenes. Moments after sealing the title, Kohli opened up about his wife Anushka Sharma’s long-standing support, calling her journey alongside him just as significant. “So it’s been 11 years for her as well, you know. Relentlessly coming to games, watching tough games, watching us just miss out. What your life partner does for you to be able to play, and the sacrifices, and the commitment, and just backing you through thick and thin, is something you can’t explain in words,” Kohli said after the final. “Only when you play professionally, you understand the amount of things that go on behind the scenes, and what they go through as well.” Kohli also highlighted that Anushka, who grew up in Bengaluru, has been backing RCB since 2014. The couple has often been seen supporting each other during highs and lows, and this win, coming after years of heartbreak, was clearly personal.
