Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3, Saturday. There are many reasons why this encounter is special. RCB are trying to finish in the top two, and CSK want revenge for their big loss at the same ground last year. Also, with talks about MS Dhoni’s retirement, this could be the last time fans see him play against Virat Kohli in the IPL. But there’s a big problem and that is rain. There has been a lot of rain in Bengaluru these last few days, and the weather forecast predicts that it could continue on the day of the match. According to Accuweather, there is a chance of thunderstorms between 7 pm and 8 pm. Weather.com also indicates a 92% probability of rain at 9 pm, with showers potentially continuing till midnight. As of writing, the weather was not that bad, but Bengaluru is famous for sudden changes in the weather. The silver lining is that the Chinnaswamy Stadium has one of the finest drainage systems in India, so even if it rains, the game would still be played, as they did earlier this season in a rain-reduced five-over match against Punjab Kings. RCB will go to 15 points and top the table for the time being. CSK have already been ruled out of the playoff's contention with eight defeats in ten matches. Another no-result won't be useful in experimenting with new young players ahead of next season. RCB, however, would not like to lose the winning momentum they have established. If this match is washed out, the maximum points they can earn is 21, one short of the record all-time IPL score of 22 points. Also, a no result match will weaken the chances of RCB for finishing in top two. Also, if it rains and the match ends in no result, the last completed game between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in the IPL would still be RCB's away victory earlier this season.
