Prithvi Shaw has been in the headlines not for his on-field brilliance but for the controversial life he leads at this age. The young batting prodigy, who saw massive success early on and was often compared to the batting greats, suffered an unreal downfall in his career. There have been a lot of complaints regarding his fitness and especially his being undisciplined—for not hitting the nets or returning late. And now, Prithvi Shaw accepted all the claims behind in downfall. In a recent interview with News 24, he accepted that he was with the wrong group of friends. That he was at the "top" of his time, he made a lot of friends who took him here and there. He cut short his practice session and got involved in unwanted activities. However, he praised Rishabh Pant for staying in touch with Prithvi all the time. In the conversation, Prithvi said, "Rishabh Pant keeps on contacting me, whenever he feels something is wrong." He added, "A lot happened. People's perspectives is different. Only I can understand what happened. I've made a lot of wrong decisions in life. I gave cricket very less time. Used to practice 4-5 hours earlier, never got tired of batting, used to spend half the day on the ground. This happened till 2023. After that, I started taking things that are not important as important. I made the wrong friends. I was at the top, so you make friends. Going here, going there. Went off track. Used to be on the ground for 8 hours, that went down to 4 hours." He lost his grandfather, who was close to him, and that had horrified him. Luckily, his father was by his side, supporting him in all the odds. Shaw, however, takes all the blames on himself to gow with the flow with his friends too. Shaw stated, "Had some family problems. My grandfather expired. He was very close to me. I admit my mistake. My dad always supported me. He saw good and bad. In life, everyone's graph is up and down. It is a lesson for me, but my dad said, 'Only Prithvi Shaw can get himself back no one else.' I have left everything else. Do not even go out now. Paps also spot you. People have a perspective, they do not know it's a family dinner or I am going bowling. I like bowling but I cannot do that at home. I live alone at home. Dad keeps coming. I like it. I hate going out now." Speaking about his friends, he said, "It is not their fault. I am so mentally wrong. I should have known. But it happened in a flow. Went here and there. It was my mistake. I admit it was a distraction in my life. It is not there now. I have myself strong. When you don't see me in the ground, people who were there at that time, who distracted me, are not there now. I take it as a positive; they cleared the way." He concluded, "I am responsible myself. I do not blame anyone. I am mentally strong. I am knowledgeable. If i got distracted, it was my own thing. If I reached here, that also through my own. I don't want to blame anyone."
