At JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, on Tuesday, right during the Jharkhand T20 League final, things got a bit chaotic ,like a stampede vibe, and suddenly a number of spectators were injured. From what reports say, thousands of fans had gathered to catch the title showdown. But the security setup was not quite adequate, plus the police presence felt limited, so handling the crowd became messy. Because of that disorder, incidents continued outside the venue as well. Thankfully though, there were no fatalities, so at least nobody died in the whole event. #WATCH | Jharkhand: A stampede-like situation arose at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi during the final match of the Jharkhand T20 League due to an unexpectedly large crowd. A report from The Times of India mentioned an eyewitness, who claimed there was very little administrative control there, so a lot of folks ended up climbing over walls , just to get entry. And another witness said the matter worsened since one of the gates stayed shut for quite a while. As per the eyewitness, the authorities couldve stopped all this, by letting spectators in a lot earlier, instead of waiting. Jharkhand health minister Irfan Ansari informed after the incident: “Hospitals have also been alerted for the better treatment of the injured. Health Department is fully engaged in relief and treatment efforts with utmost readiness. There is no need to panic; arrangements are being ensured for the proper treatment of all the injured.” This incident kinda brought back, memories of that tragic stampede at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium last year. Back then 11 people lost their lives, and a lot of others got injured, during the celebrations after RCB’s maiden IPL title triumph. After that mess, the authorities basically shut down the venue from hosting cricket matches for over nine months. Luckily, in Ranchi the thing never went that far and the Jharkhand T20 League final stayed safe, no such devastating situation occurred. About the game, Chota Nagpur Royals beat Jamshedpur Steelers by seven wickets, and well with 16 balls remaining. So yeah they became the first champions ever in the Jharkhand T20 League. While chasing 181, the Royals finished the thing pretty easily, mostly because Kumar Kushagra stayed unbeaten on 78 from 39 balls, and he pretty much steered them into a memorable win.
