For millions of Indian cricket fans, getting to speak to their idol is a far-fetched dream. But for two Madagaon village buddies in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district, the dream became a reality, but by chance. About 20 years old Manish Bisi and his buddy Khemraj were surprised to receive calls from cricket legends Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Yash Dayal after a SIM card previously owned by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar was reactivated and transferred to Manish. The Unbelievable Mix-Up Manish procured a new Jio SIM from Deobhog on June 28. When he activated WhatsApp, the profile picture displayed Rajat Patidar. The friends initially assumed it was just a technical fault, but then the calls began pouring in, from some of cricket's biggest names. When AB de Villiers called, he spoke in English. We couldn't understand a word, but we were so thrilled." He added: "When Manish used to get calls, he would hand over the phone to me. The callers who identified themselves as Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal asked us why we were using Patidar's number. We explained to them we had bought a new SIM and this is our number." Rajat Patidar Steps In The matter turned serious on July 15 when Rajat Patidar personally called to ask for his SIM. Manish and Khemraj initially believed it was a prank, but Patidar threatened to call in the police if needed. Gariaband DSP Neha Sinha made clear that the SIM was deactivated within 90 days as per telecom regulations and reallocated to Manish. She agreed that the cricketers were in all good faith to contact Patidar, without knowing the number was now with another person. She said: "Manish was actually getting calls from cricketers who were in contact with Rajat Patidar. Patidar informed the Madhya Pradesh Cyber Cell that his number had been allotted to someone else and requested to have it back."
