The Chennai Super Kings have got a bunch of young faces for their new season, with Prashant Veer being one of them. The franchise paid him INR 14.2 crores, making him the joint-most expensive uncapped player in IPL history. He has now joined the CSK camp for the pre-season practice sessions. He even met the former captain, MS Dhoni, but didn't get an advice on cricket. Instead, he got some life advice. Recently, he was approached by the Sportsstar magazine, where he was asked about his interactions with the CSK star. The 20-year-old Veer recalled that cricket conversations have not yet started between him and Dhoni. Rather, Dhoni advised him to save money. Veer said, "Right now, we haven’t spoken much about cricket. He told me to save my money and not spend it unnecessarily." Read also: Can Mohammed Shami Make India Comeback? IPL 2026 Could Be Key Prashant Veer on CSK's environment The UP all-rounder has been a popular one in the domestic circuit, especially after the 2025 Uttar Pradesh T20 League. When asked about his comfort zone with the bat, he didn't mention any spot to fix him. Rather, he intentionally scratched out the opening slot. "I can bat in any situation. Just as long as I don’t have to open, I will do it anywhere else." Veer admitted that he had never had a practice session of such intensity before he joined CSK. It'll take him some time to get used to it, even though he is actually enjoying the environment. He said, "The environment is very good, and everyone is very supportive. It feels good to mingle with them and play together. It’s a great feeling for me, my family, and my village (Sahajipur, UP). I’m really blessed to be here." He added, "It’s my first IPL, so I have never had practice sessions like this before. The environment and the intensity here are different, so it takes a little time to get used to it." There will be a lot of pressure: Prashant Veer on Ravindra Jadeja comparisons The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been a part of the CSK squad for a long time, winning matches for the team and even titles. However, he has been transferred to Rajasthan Royals, which allowed them to bring in Sanju Samson. When CSK got Prashant Veer, it was automatic speculation that he would likely replace Jadeja due to his slow-arm orthodox bowling and also for being a left-handed middle order batter. But the young allrounder wants to be less bothered about that. He wants to stick with his roots, adding that the Jadeja comparison might give pressure. "First of all, I have to do what I know — what I have practised and what brought me here. If I think I have to take his place, there will be a lot of pressure because what he has done for the franchise or the Indian team is not easy to do. Right now, I’m just focusing on my game."
