The West Indies cricket team is set to begin a six-day training camp in Ahmedabad ahead of their two-match Test series against India. According to information shared by Cricket West Indies (CWI) with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), the team will train in Ahmedabad from September 24 to 29 before their final preparations for the first Test. The series will begin with the first Test on October 2-6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium and the second match will be hosted by the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10-14. CWI CEO Christ Dehring informed Cricbuzz: "We have a team that we expect to perform well, in particular a quite exciting fast bowling attack. We are there from September 24 through to the first Test." Skipper Roston Chase also has part-time off-spin available. But pace is still the greatest strength of the team. Bowlers like Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Anderson Phillip are likely to dominate the attack even on Indian pitches that tend to favor spin. A few players, such as captain Shubman Gill, can report directly from Dubai after the Asia Cup, while others will report from the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The new series will also be the final selection meeting for a couple of members of the existing national selection committee. According to reports, RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha will become part of Ajit Agarkar's panel, while S Sharath is likely to be back as the chief of the junior selection committee. The West Indies have their most recent Test series against India in July 2023, which was drawn 1-0 in India's direction due to rain ruining the second Test. They further lost 0-3 to Australia in their latest Test series in June-July 2025 as their batting folded for mere 27 runs during the second innings of the third Test.
