A prominent English cricketer is being investigated by the police after he was accused of spiking the drinks of two women and sexually assaulting one of them. The incident is said to have occurred at a pub in south-west London on May 22, in the SW6 area that encompasses Fulham and Parsons Green. The man, who is in his 40s, was interviewed under caution by Scotland Yard in June following a complaint being made, reported The Daily Telegraph. The ECB refused to comment on the claims. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the investigation: "We are currently investigating allegations of spiking and sexual assault against two women that took place on Thursday, 22 May at a pub in the SW6 area. Two women are believed to have been spiked with one also allegedly sexually assaulted. A man in his 40s was interviewed under caution on Thursday, 5 June. The Cricket Regulator, an independent organization dealing with disciplinary cases in English cricket, has been actively tackling misconduct over the past few years. The regulator has charged people twice for sexual misconduct in the last year: In August, a coach was suspended for nine months after being sacked by his county for distributing "sexualised and inappropriate" images to junior female staff. Last November, a coach was suspended for six months for "inappropriate sexual behaviour" on a county pre-season tour. The latest probe is of concern to safety and accountability within English cricket, as authorities continue to probe and ensure proper action is taken. The cricket world is intently following this case, with fans, players, and officials waiting for more information from Scotland Yard. Safety and respect remain the focus for an environment where everyone in the sport can enjoy it.
