Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma are long-time friends. They played together in India for the first time in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup and have been teammates and close friends since then. Their relationship is robust and full of sincere and enjoyable moments. In December, while India toured Australia, Rohit made people laugh at a press conference when Ravichandran Ashwin, last year, had said that he was retiring from international cricket. Rohit stated, "Pujara is hiding somewhere in Rajkot, so we don't meet so often. Let me clarify, Pujara has not retired. You will get me killed." Rohit's humorous statement made people smile. More recently, Rohit went to the book launch of The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife, which was penned by Pujara's wife, Puja Pabari. During the event, Rohit recalled Pujara's memory with a humorous flashback from the past that may not have been added into the book. He was talking about the 2012 West Indies tour. According to Rohit, he had cautioned Pujara during the tour about something, but Pujara did not heed his words. However, what happened next made Pujara regret about not listening to Rohit Sharma's advice. Is there anything regarding that West Indies tour of India A 2012? What happened?." That was when Pujara opened up on the incident. He said: “I haven’t told. I mean, she is aware but she doesn’t know the details. I am a vegetarian. So we were looking for a vegetarian meal at night. It was in TNT (Trinidad and Tobago) where we went out at 11 in the evening. We didn’t find the meal but when we were walking back, I was mobbed. I can’t tell you in detail about it but that’s the story he is referring to.” Rohit added: “Moral of the story is that he can be stubborn. We told him. We warned him not to go out in the night. Don't step out after 9 PM. This is the West Indies.” Watch the video here: Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara share shocking incident about not going out after 9 pm in West Indies.😳 pic.twitter.com/iMsXwGGJWe — 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐢𝐢⁴⁵ (@rushiii_12) June 7, 2025 Rohit Returns on August 17, Pujara Waits for Test Recall India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma will be next seen playing cricket for India on 17th August when India will travel to Bangladesh for the limited overs series (Three ODIs, and Three T20Is).
