Former Indian cricketer and commentator Akash Chopra has criticized the Indian Test captain Rohit Sharma for his defensive approach against Australia in the second Test at Adelaide. Australia equaled the Border Gvakaskar Trophy after sealing a massive 10-wicket victory against India. When an innings defeat looked inevitable, Nitish Reddy saved the face, overcoming the trail. Later, Mohammad Siraj and Bumrah added 9 runs, taking the target to just 19 runs for Australia. Speaking to the YouTube channel, Akash Chopra slammed Rohit Sharma's captaincy, explaining how he has been consistently struggling in his last four Tests. He said, "Jasprit Bumrah had bowled a four-over spell and had already picked up a wicket in that. So why did he bowl only four overs, and didn't bowl after that at all? He didn't bowl in the entire session. So you are 100 percent right when you say that you missed a trick in captaincy. Rohit's captaincy - let's call a spade a spade. We saw defensive captaincy. He allowed the match to drift." Rohit Sharma loses last 4 Tests Rohit Sharma had missed the first Test at Perth owing to the birth of his second child. Prior to that, India already had faced a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand in the three-match home Test series. He came straight to the Perth dressing room in the middle of the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and was seen practicing in the nets too.
