Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer admitted his side was “befuddled” by their shocking batting collapse in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025, where PBKS were bowled out for just 101 runs by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB chased the target in just 10 overs to storm into the IPL 2025 final. Speaking after the game, Iyer said the loss wasn’t one to forget but a reminder to introspect ahead of their next challenge in the playoffs. “Not a day to forget, but we have to go to the drawing board. We were befuddled and lost a lot of wickets. Something to go back and study.” PBKS batted first on a Mullanpur surface where bounce proved tricky again. Despite being the table-toppers, their innings collapsed inside 14.1 overs with only Marcus Stoinis (26 off 17) offering some resistance. Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma picked up three wickets each for RCB. However, Iyer maintained he had no regrets over the team’s strategic decisions before the match, and stressed the execution failed on the pitch. “Not doubting on my decisions in terms of planning. Outside of the ground, it was on point. Couldn't execute, can't blame our bowlers. It was such a low total.” RCB’s batters, especially Phil Salt (56* off 27), made light work of the chase. PBKS bowlers barely had a chance as the team slumped to a demoralising eight-wicket loss. The result now pushes Punjab to Qualifier 2, where they’ll have to regroup quickly and fix their batting issues. “Got to work on our batting, on this wicket. In all games here, there has been variable bounce. Can't give such reasons because we are professionals and we have to live up to it. We have lost the battle but not the war.” Also READ: RCB Bowlers Crush PBKS with Historic Playoff Performance RCB dominate PBKS with all-round show in Mullanpur RCB bowled out PBKS for just 101 and chased it down in 10 overs thanks to Phil Salt's unbeaten 56.
