Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya admitted that his side fell short with the bat during their 7-wicket loss to Punjab Kings in Jaipur, but maintained that the team isn’t hitting the panic button just yet. “The way the wicket played, we were 20 runs short. Happens. We've been playing good cricket but didn't tonight, that cost us. We've won five trophies, it's always been tough. If you take the foot off the accelerator, other teams take over. The message would be simple: this is a small blip, learn from it and look forward to the knockout. It's still fresh, will identify issues later. Our batting needed to capitalise to get 20 more though,” Hardik said after MI’s defeat. Punjab chased down the 185-run target in 18.3 overs thanks to a 73-run blitz from Josh Inglis and a sparkling 62 by young Priyansh Arya. While MI’s bowling lacked bite, Hardik backed his selections and focused on fine-tuning the batting order. "We back Ashwani. Don't think there was much difference in the pitch between the innings. Our bowling wasn't clinical, they played good shots as well. Just want to play good cricket going forward, figure out the right template for the batting group. Not much panic though, we knew what was at stake. Nothing changes from the situation four days ago that we find ourselves back in,” the MI skipper added. Despite contributions from Hardik (26 off 15) and Rickelton (27 off 20), MI finished with 184/7 in their 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen picked up two wickets each for PBKS, while Vyshak also chipped in with two late strikes. Skipper Shreyas Iyer stayed unbeaten on 26 as PBKS wrapped up the game with 9 balls to spare. With this win, PBKS move to the top of the table and will play Qualifier 1. MI, on the other hand, will be playing the Eliminator. Their opponents will be decided based on the result of RCB's match against LSG. If RCB wins, they will face PBKS, and GT will meet MI.
