Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill did not hold back after his side's 33-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants, openly criticising the team's bowling performance in the middle overs. LSG posted a daunting 235/2 in 20 overs, riding on a 117-run blitz from Mitchell Marsh and a rapid finish from Nicholas Pooran. Reflecting on where the game slipped, Gill said the bowling unit let the game drift after a decent start. "We gave 15-20 extra. If we'd stopped them at 210-220 it would've been better, that was a huge difference," Gill said during the post-match interview. Also READ: IPL Finals Reversed: Who’d Have the Most Titles? While the start with the ball wasn't alarming, GT allowed LSG to pile on a massive 180 runs in the final 14 overs. Despite not picking up early wickets, Gill insisted the team was still in the contest until the final few overs. "We bowled well in the powerplay, yes, we didn't get wickets. But they scored 180 in the next 14 overs which was a lot. We were right in the game till the 17th over. Shahrukh and Rutherford batted well," he added. Gujarat’s bowling lacked any real bite on a high-scoring surface. Rashid Khan, Siraj, Rabada: all went wicketless while conceding over 11 runs an over. Even Gill's decision to test his bowling resources ahead of the playoffs didn’t pay off. Despite a strong batting reply with Shahrukh Khan and Rutherford scoring briskly, GT fell short by 33 runs in the chase. "Getting momentum back will be key in the next game," he said. Gujarat remain at the top of the table despite their loss to LSG on Thursday, but two losses in their last five matches, and leaking 230+ totals are raising alarm bells in the dugout.
