The star pacer Jasprit Bumrah made a strong remark on comparing the Indian Premier League and Test Cricket, saying not everyone's body can undergo the wear and tear after the five-day format. Notably, Virat Kohli, after winning the 2025 IPL trophy for RCB said that the league is five steps behind Test cricket. To this Jasprit Bumrah opposed, but with a lighter tone. Recently, Bumrah was hosted by SkySports as a guest and was interviewed by commentator aka the RCB mentor for this season, Dinesh Kartik. Speaking about the comparison, Bumrah said that everyone has to feed their family, be it the one who "hides behind the bat" or someone who toils for long 10-over spells in each Test matches. Bumrah said, "It's very subjective to every individual. I understand the thought process. They have one career. We do not hide behind a bat. You have to put a lot of strain on your body. You have to look after your family and earn money. If sometimes their bodies won't allow them to play the longest format and they still want to contribute towards the game, sometimes those smarter approaches." Earlier, in an interview with Michael Clarke, Bumrah countered aggressive celebration after taking wickets. He said that he wants to respect the opponents and literally added that he doesnt want to look like a clown doing aggressive howling on the field Read also: Kohli Hosts Test Stars in London Before England Series Rifts between Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli? Bumrah himself, suffering from multiple injuries in different time, probably can empathize with how different bodies react to different circumstances. Recalling his childhood days, he said that the red-ball format was considered the ultimate. With evolution, needs have changed, and so have perspectives. So if someone chose limited over cricket as a means to earn respect, he sees nothing wrong in it. Boom said, "Everybody is different. It comes from a time when test cricket was the pinnacle. This was the format. I grew up watching. I always judge myself through this format. Current generation things are different. T20 cricket is there. Leagues are there. Thought processes have changed. Mindsets change. You cannot judge players or fast bowlers. Yes, this is the purest format, but everybody is different." He added, "I would encourage people to play this format to earn respect. Like Virat said in his interview, you will get respect through this format. You will get respect all over the world. If that is your motivation, this is the format. Different kinds of bodies, different mindsets. If you want fast-paced cricket, T20 and ODI cricket is the way to go." Bumrah is one of the rarest of the species who has achieved immense success in both leagues and international matches irrespective of formats. But his injury has been a massive concern, for which he has had to give up his captaincy call too. Notably, Boom will be featured in just three Tests against England.
