Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant admitted that injuries and unfillable gaps derailed what could have been one of their strongest IPL seasons. After LSG’s playoff hopes were officially dashed following a six-wicket defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pant spoke candidly about the challenges his team faced throughout the 2025 campaign. “Definitely it could have been one of our best seasons. But coming into the tournament, we had a lot of gaps, injuries, and as a team, we decided not to talk about it. Still, it became difficult to fill those gaps," Pant said in the post-match interview. Pant pointed out that the franchise had solid plans in place during the auction, especially with regard to their bowling attack, but acknowledged that things didn’t go according to plan. “The way we planned the auction, if we would have had the same bowling… but this is cricket, sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don’t. We take pride in the way we played and take the positives from the season rather than the negative side," he remarked. He admitted that LSG’s form dipped in the latter half of the tournament, which ultimately cost them a spot in the top four. “The first half of the season we played really well, but the second half it became tougher and tougher to catch up with the teams on the brighter side,” he said. One standout for LSG this year was rookie leg-spinner Digvesh Rathi. Pant was full of praise for the uncapped youngster, stating: “Rathi has come up nicely for us in his first season. The way he bowled, he is one of the positives. But you need to keep improving yourself and get better and better as the seasons go.” Also READ: LSG set 205, but SRH chased 206 with Sharma’s blazing 59 to win by 6 wickets.
