Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid is back in Bengaluru, but this time in the opposing dugout. As RR prepare to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Dravid’s focus is on survival. His team has lost four matches in a row and sits near the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table with only two wins in eight games. During the pre-match press conference, Rahul Dravid joked about how former RCB players have done well at Chinnaswamy Stadium, starting from Mohammad Siraj to KL Rahul. “Do we have an RCB player from last time? Play him in the XI straightaway," Dravid joked. He quickly added, “No, not at all, man. I don’t think about it like that, to be very honest. Just trying to play a good game of cricket.” RR’s campaign has been hit hard by close losses. Against both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, they needed just nine runs in the final over but failed to get over the line. “I know we've lost a couple of close games coming into this, but we've played some good cricket as well. It’s one of those tournaments where a few balls go here or there, and we might have been in a slightly different position,” Dravid said. But Dravid believes the pitch for Thursday’s clash could offer better conditions and would help both teams. He explained that the previous surface was covered for a long time and was not ideal for comparison. “The wicket I’m seeing here… looks a really good wicket. It should be a pretty high-scoring game.” With RR in a must-win situation, Dravid stressed urgency. “It’s a very important game for us. Every game from here on… we can’t afford to make many mistakes. We’ve got to start climbing that table quickly. No chances of slipping up anymore.” Dravid also touched on the trend of home teams struggling in IPL 2025. “It’s the first year of a big auction cycle… home advantage may not be that significant. But maybe as the season goes on, players will settle in and use home conditions better.” In their previous meeting, RCB came out on top, defeating RR by nine wickets. RR, who have lost all their recent four matches, will look to make a comeback against the home side.
