Hayley Matthews has been out of the Women's Caribbean Premier League 2025 because of a shoulder injury. No substitute has been announced by Barbados Royals Women yet. Chinelle Henry will be the captain. Matthews has been the workhorse for the Royals in the WCPL and the tournament's highest run-getter with 424 runs at a strike rate of 113.06. She is also the top wicket-taker in the WCPL with 23 wickets in 13 matches at an economy rate of 5.79. Talking about Matthews' injury, she incurred it while playing during West Indies women's tour of England. She missed the Women's Big Bash League as she underwent surgery. Matthews was Melbourne Renegades Women's pre-draft selection but chose not to do WBBL draft. Subsequently, she played the home series versus South Africa and The Hundred Women's. Shreyanka Patil is also part of Royals' team and is one among the three Indians present at the WCPL this time. The remaining two Indians at the tournament, Shikha Pandey and Salonee Dangore will play for Trinbago Knight Riders. WCPL 2025 will be conducted from September 6 to 17. The Royals have won the competition twice (2023, 2024) and have been runners-up once (2022). They will start their campaign against Guyana Amazon Warriors Women on Monday, September 8.
