English cricketer Sam Billings, representing Lahore Qalandars currently in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, was asked the other day to compare IPL with PSL. His reaction was very transparent; he feels that IPL is far ahead of any other T20 league globally. When one Pakistani reporter asked him to compare, Billings replied wisely. He told the reporter that he was attempting to make him look like a fool. But then, he boldly stated that IPL is the best T20 league in the world. He did not compare PSL directly with IPL because for him, there is no competition, IPL is just on a different level. Billings said: "You want me to say something silly, don't you? The great thing about cricket is that everywhere you go around the world, you have to adapt to conditions. The conditions - playing in India, Pakistan, Australia, and England - you have to adapt as a cricketer. "It's hard to rank all the competitions. But, I think it's hard to look past the IPL as the premier competition. It's pretty obvious. Every other competition is just behind. In England, we're trying to do the same thing, like the PSL, to be the second-best competition in the world. The Big Bash is trying to do the same." He added: "I think it's hard to compare. Each competition brings out different challenges. I am grateful that I get to travel the world and play cricket and bring a smile to the people. I wouldn't trade this job for anything." He made his debut in the PSL in 2015-16 with Islamabad United and currently represents Lahore Qalandars. In the IPL, he represented Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders from 2016 to 2022. His experience in both competitions lends credibility to his statements. He elaborated that each T20 competition, including Australia's Big Bash League, falls short of the IPL. The IPL is special due to its standard, huge attendances, great players, and huge media worth. Indian Fans Dragged into PSL Talks Again This is not the first time Indian fans, or the IPL have been taken into PSL press conferences. David Warner, who is currently playing for Karachi Kings after going unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, was questioned earlier if Indian fans were angry with him for playing in the Pakistan Super League. Warner was perplexed and replied that he had never heard of any hate. Meanwhile, Billings has had a patchy PSL season until now. He has played three games for Qalandars, scoring 69 runs, one fifty and one duck included. Though part of the PSL now, Sam Billings made his position clear, when it comes to T20 leagues, the IPL still dominates the show.
