Wiaan Mulder is having the match of his life. After scoring an unbeaten 367 runs in South Africa’s first innings, the all-rounder struck again with the ball, clean bowling Zimbabwe’s top batter Sean Williams in the second innings of the 2nd Test. On the fifth ball of the 29th over, Mulder delivered a length ball that moved in and skidded off the pitch. Williams, who had already scored two boundaries in his 11 off 10 balls, attempted to get his bat down in time, but the ball got the better of him and knocked over the off stump. Mulder leaped in joy, obviously relishing every moment of this historic Test match. The visitors dominated throughout, taking nearly two days to complete the second Test. Even without the presence of most senior players, they gelled like real champions and gave Zimbabwe no hope of mounting a comeback. The match will be recalled mainly for Wiaan Mulder's record-breaking 367 not out, which assisted South Africa in scoring an enormous 626/6. Zimbabwe were not able to match them, they were bowled out inexpensively in the first innings (170) and, although they put up a little resistance in the second, it was nowhere near sufficient. They managed just 220 runs in the next inning after SA enforced a follow-on. Their batting had no depth, and they were tired and flat in the field. It was a performance that they would like to forget in a hurry. South Africa, however, earned their 10th consecutive Test win with demonstration of their increasing strength despite having a new-look team. Mulder's all-round show was the performance of the match, and his delivery to dismiss Williams was the icing on the cake for a nearly flawless Test by him and his team.
