Wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans, Kohli was fit and concentrated. The training is for his preparation for his comeback in ODIs, which is likely to take place in Australia between October 19 and 25. His return to cricketing action was delayed after the ODI series against Bangladesh, that was earlier scheduled to be played in August was postponed. Kohli last played competitive cricket in June during the IPL 2025 final, where he scored a match-winning 43 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Punjab Kings, securing RCB’s first-ever IPL title. Since then, Kohli has been in London with his wife Anushka Sharma for events such as Wimbledon and a charity show hosted by Yuvraj Singh. He hasn't played for India since the Test tour of Australia earlier this year and declared his Test retirement in the middle of the IPL season. Kohli, who retired from T20Is following India's win in the 2024 T20 World Cup, is still an essential component of India's ODI contingent. With 14,181 ODI runs and 51 centuries to his name, he will be keen to gain momentum leading into the 2027 World Cup in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
