For this match, RCB brought in Romario Shepherd in place of the struggling Liam Livingstone, while Punjab Kings fielded the same XI. Punjab Kings had an excellent beginning with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, the openers, contributing 42 runs in a brisk manner. But after they were dismissed by the RCB all-rounder Krunal Pandya, things began to go wrong. Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for 6, and then Wadhera got run out as a result of the mix-up with Inglis. Shashank Singh and Josh Inglis (29) steered the PBKS innings by adding 36 runs off 26 balls, before Suyash Sharma castled Inglis. The leggie not only got rid of Inglis but also rattled the woods of Marcus Stoinis (1) in the same over. This double wicket reduced Punjab Kings to 114/6 after 14 overs, but Shashank Singh (31*) and Marco Jansen (25*) played gutsy knocks to guide PBKS to a respectable total of 157/6. The onus is now on the bowlers of Punjab Kings to defend the total in their las game at Mullanpur.
