India is preparing for their toughest yet biggest ODI challenge, where they will be facing the current ODI World Champions, Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting on Sunday in Perth. All players and coaching staff are currently in Australia for the series, doing training in Perth ahead of the first match. Virat Kohli, who is arguably India’s best ODI batter, is also present in Perth for the training sessions. The 36-year-old batter was hilariously pranked by his teammates during a training session, and the video is going viral on social media. Virat, along with other players, got in a queue for a sprint. He stood at what he initially thought was the starting line, but it was Kohli who started quickly; however, his teammates didn’t start. (@SohelVkf) October 17, 2025 They Are Quality Players: Gautam Gambhir It is obvious that the upcoming ODI series against Australia is going to play a crucial role for both veteran Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. As both eyes are for the 2027 ODI World Cup, they need to perform and stay in contention, which has already been made clear by the coach and national selectors. A few days back, when head coach Gautam Gambhir was asked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he said that both are going to play a crucial role for Indian in the upcoming series against Australia. As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Gambhir said: "Obviously, they are quality players. They are coming back. Their experience is going to be a handful in Australia as well. Hopefully, those two guys will have a successful tour. More importantly, as a team, we will have a successful series.” India will play their first ODI on Sunday since their Champions Trophy victory in March earlier this year. Shubman Gill is set to lead the side for the first time in ODIs after enjoying initial success as red-ball captain against England and the West Indies.
