Virat Kohli, India's veteran batsman, is putting extra time in nets on December 24 where he has practiced on fresh pitches of Melbourne Cricket Ground to take place for the Boxing Day Test. He worked on playing those deliveries outside off stump better which has been an area of difficulty for him in the latest games. He requested the bowlers, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna, to bowl outside the off-stump and at quicker pace. Kohli observed to leave the ball when bounced more and not edge it out to the wicket-keeper or slips. He also appreciated that the bowlers were performing during the session. After that, he failed miserably and got out for single-digit scores in the next two matches. He edged deliveries from Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland at Adelaide Oval. On the third day at Brisbane, he was dismissed while driving a ball towards cover off Josh Hazlewood. It was raining at Brisbane, which washed out the second innings, so Kohli didn't get another chance to bat. Rohit Sharma Defends Kohli In the pre-match press conference, India's captain Rohit Sharma expressed confidence when asked about Kohli's form. "You said he is a modern-day great. Modern-day greats will find their way to overcome challenges," Rohit said. Kohli has a good record at the MCG, scoring 316 runs in three Tests at an average of 52.66. His best performance was a 169-run knock in 2014. India also has a good recent record at the MCG, winning their last two matches there and remaining unbeaten since 2011. India will look to continue from this momentum when they clash with Australia in the final test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
