Jaiswal faced the ball aggressively and he was complemented by Shubman Gill with 23 off 31 balls before getting out. Though the pitch began to assist the spinners, the duo saw to it that the scoreboard kept ticking. Rohit Sharma departed at a very low score of 8. He was caught at short leg off Mitchell Santner. Gill and Jaiswal too lost their wickets for 23 and 77 respectively. Rishabh Pant also threw away his wicket in the form of run-out at his personal score of 0. Virat Kohli also lost his wicket to Santner for just 17 runs. India would now want Sarfaraz, along with the remaining batters to continue putting pressure on the New Zealand bowlers as they need well over 200 for the win that is almost unlikely keeping their series still alive. When Jaiswal smashed Southee through cover for another four, Rohit had pulled William O'Rourke for a four. After the dismissal of Rohit, Gill played two well-timed sweeps off Ajaz Patel and cut Santner for another boundary. Jaiswal did not change his aggressive momentum, hitting Santner down the ground for six, and then played a brilliant shot over deep extra cover for another big six off Glenn Phillips. However, Santner had the last laugh as the all-rounder scalped the wicket of the southpaw. Earlier, New Zealand's second innings ended up with 255, setting a target for India of 359. NZ, starting this morning with overnight lead of 301, only managed adding 57 before losing five wickets of their second innings in first hour of the day. Jadeja bagged 3 wickets, Ashwin took 2, while Sundar ended up with 4 in his kitty.
