In a heart-stopping moment in the IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal did something not often seen in T20 cricket — they ran four runs without the ball touching the boundary. It occurred when Padikkal pushed a ball from Arshdeep Singh towards deep mid-wicket, and with quick running and excellent coordination between the wickets, the pair ran four runs before the ball returned in. PBKS could only muster 157 runs off the loss of 6 wickets from their 20 overs as the pitch was giving some help to the bowlers. PBKS began well with a start of 42 runs between Priyansh Arya (22 from 15 deliveries) and Prabhsimran Singh (33 from 17 deliveries), before both were out to Krunal Pandya. Skipper Shreyas Iyer could muster only 6 runs, and Nehal Wadhera (5) got run out due to a misunderstanding with Josh Inglis. Inglis also displayed some promise, with 29 off 17 balls, before being dismissed shortly afterwards, as was Marcus Stoinis, both of whom fell to Suyash Sharma's spin. Shashank Singh (31 off 33 balls) and Marco Jansen (25 off 20 balls) took a bit of resistance, though PBKS' score was still short of the mark. RCB's bowlers, particularly Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma, were in excellent form, with both claiming 2 wickets each. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hazlewood bowled tight spells, though they did not pick up any wickets. In response, RCB chased down the target comfortably in 18.5 overs, with Devdutt Padikkal’s 61 runs off 35 balls and Virat Kohli’s solid 73 off 54 balls anchoring the chase. In spite of initial dismissals, RCB played a steady run and won their fifth game in seven matches. Punjab's bowlers found it difficult to keep the RCB batsmen at bay, with Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, and Yuzvendra Chahal each picking up a single wicket. RCB's comfortable win propelled them to third position in the points table.
