Trent Boult was dismissed in a bizarre manner in the very first game of MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 against Texas Super Kings on Friday, June 13, at the Oakland Coliseum in California. This occurred during the 19th over of the chase of MI New York. The third ball of the over saw Tajinder Dhillon drive a length ball from Adam Milne to third man. The batter ran one run comfortably and attempted to take a second. But when Boult reached the crease at the strike end, he threw down his bat and began hopping rather than grounding it. He also fell in attempt of a run. Boult couldn't make it to the crease on time and was run out in a very comical manner. During the chase, Monak Patel scored the highest with 62 off 44 balls. Bracewell contributed 38 off 21, and Kieron Pollard scored 32 off 16. However, the side lost by 3 runs since Daryl Mitchell bowled an excellent last over, conceding merely 5 runs. The contribution of Faf du Plessis with a specatular catch of Bracewell cannot be ignored as he was a set batter who could tilt the game the favour of MI New York in very short span. Texas Super Kings now rank second on the points table. MI New York occupies the fifth position. Both these teams will play their next respective games on Monday, June 16.
