Royal Challengers Bengaluru have produced a sensational performance to outclass Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 to storm through to the final, posting a massive 254/5 on the board. Captain Rajat Patidar delivered one of the greatest knocks of the season, an unbeaten 93 off just 33 balls. The right-hander hit nine sixes and five fours as the Gujarat bowlers looked clueless to prevent the flow of runs, while Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya also chipped in with 43 runs each. In reply, Gujarat Titans never managed to settle down as their chase fell apart under the immense pressure. Skipper Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler were all dismissed for very low scores to put the Titans under severe pressure in the early part of the innings. Eventually Gujarat was bundled out for just 162 runs. Glenn Phillips Reacts Strongly During Press Conference After the end of the match, Glenn Phillips was also present during the Gujarat Titans press conference even though he didn't feature in the playing eleven. During the press conference, a reporter asked Gujarat Titans if they had already given up after looking at 254/5 on the board. Phillips didn't take it sportingly as he replied to the question. Phillips said: "That's a silly question. That is a really silly question. No one goes in there waiting to go, 'Oh, you know what? We're just going to give up on this one.' Why would we do that as professional cricketers? That's a terrible question." He added: "We went out there, we gave it everything. Unfortunately, when you're trying to chase 250, everything has to go right. And we went out there to try and make everything go right, and obviously it didn't." Pat Cummins Reveals Big Eliminator Strategy Scoreboard Pressure Hurt Gujarat Titans However, Phillips stated the pressure mounted on his team right from the beginning due to the monumental chase required. The T20 all-rounder was quoted saying that any minor mistake can prove to be costly while chasing scores around the 250-mark. He added: "There's a huge amount of scoreboard pressure when you're trying to chase 250. And, you know, very few teams have done it." Despite suffering a heavy loss, Gujarat Titans are still alive in the tournament. GT will get a chance to reach the final of IPL 2023 when they take on the winner of the Eliminator match in Qualifier 2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the other hand have qualified for the final directly.
