The Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has shown heartwarming gestures after he approached the 22-year old Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage and had a few words with him. On September 18, after the Afghanistan versus Sri Lanka Group Stage match, Wellalage was informed by the SL's head coach, Sanath Jayasuria, and the team manager about his father passing away. Dunith soon after went home and completed his father's last rites before joining the team immediately. Notably, Dunith's father, Suranga Wellalage, suffered from a sudden heart attack and passed away at the age of 54. After the tight Super over win, Surya walked towards the young spinner and consoled him putting an arm around his shoulders. They had a brief chat and caught praises from the netizens.
