On February 8, the very first day of the third quarterfinal at Eden Gardens Kolkata, Haryana fast bowler Sumit Kumar dismissed the star batter Surya Kumar Yadav for a mere 9 runs. Kumar, who had been bowling outswingers at a stretch, finally got a good-length ball jagging inside, as Surya failed to read the line. The ball went straight in as the middle stump flew up and swirled down on the ground. The star-studded Mumbai team struggled in front of Haryana, as the former walked in to bat first after winning the toss. Mumbai is already 5 down before lunch has been declared but could not cross the 70-run mark. Haryana's prime bowler, Anshul Khamboj, bagged the Mumbai opener Ayush Mhatre for a golden duck. Sumit then cleared Akash Anand for just 10 runs, and then Siddesh Lad left for 4 runs, leaving Mumbai struggling at 14 runs. Eden Gardens hosting Mumbai vs Haryana Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal between defending champions Mumbai and Haryana will be held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata instead of Lahli, Haryana. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed both teams in advance about the venue change. This decision was made to prevent any disruptions caused by weather conditions in Lahli, despite the winter season. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik confirmed the change, stating that the match will now be played at the iconic Eden Gardens from February 8. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will oversee the arrangements for the match.
