Left-arm pacer Surya Anand delivered magic at Salem on Wednesday, scripting one of the most thrilling finishes to a match in Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025. Having the 19th over, with Nellai Royal Kings requiring 11 off 12, Surya amazed everyone by picking up four wickets in five balls, including a hat-trick. He began the over by rattling the wickets of Sonu Yadav (32) which was followed by a dot. On the next three deliveries of the over, Surya dismissed V. Yudheeswaran (0), Sachin Rathi (0), and Emmanuel Cherian (0) in the subsequent three deliveries to secure the victory for Siechem Madurai Panthers and leave Nellai stunned. Arun Karthik kept Nellai in the game with a gritty 67 off 43 balls, but after Surya walked out, the chase went out of hands. The Panthers' bowlers, Surya Anand in particular, kept it tight throughout the innings, never giving Nellai a chance to settle. Opener Ram Arvindh fell early, and Rocky Bhasker picked up two key wickets to mount pressure. Next was a stabilizing stand between B. Anirudh and Atheeq Ur Rahman, who scored 21 runs off an over from off-spinner P.S. Nirmal Kumar, temporarily changing the momentum. The duo scored 61 runs before Anirudh was removed by Sonu, who later returned to take two more wickets, finishing off with a three-wicket haul. Madurai then dropped to 125 for 8, but a belated blitz by Gurjapneet Singh (24 off 8) with the help of three sixes and P. Saravanan (16* off 10) took them to a competitive total of 168 for 9 that was just sufficient. Although the target was below par and Nellai were close to chase it, Surya's jaw-dropping 19th over turned things around to hand Madurai a memorable win.
