It was delayed following serious illness of Smriti's father, who had to be admitted to the hospital. Soon after fans observed that Smriti even deleted all the posts related to her wedding on her Instagram account, her close friends, including India teammate Jemimah Rodrigues, too began deleting photos from pre-wedding functions, which sparked more curiosity. Meanwhile, screenshots of flirtatious conversations between Palash Muchhal and Mary D’Costa began to spread online. D'Costa later updated her Instagram status to say she did not have a romantic connection with Palash and that her contact with him lasted just one month.
