In the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024, between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers on November 19, Smriti Mandhana took a catch in the outfield that was almost unbelievable. The match was played on the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide, and Mandhana athleticism ensured Carly Leeson was dismissed at the right time for the Strikers. In the 15th over of the Scorchers' chase, Amanda-Jade Wellington was bowling to Leeson who attempted to smash the one through the covers. Her shot was a little short; however she sent it high up into the air where Mandhana at mid-off kept her composure followed the ball and took the catch with both hands while going backwards. Being swift in her thinking as well as with good ball handling for her, that wicket was just what the team needed.
