India discovered an unexpected star in Nitish Kumar Reddy on Day 1 of the third Test at Lord's. The young all-rounder took everyone by surprise by dismissing both England openers and even giving Joe Root a scare with a vicious bouncer which caught him napping. Once England had won the toss and elected to bat first in bright sunshine, everyone's attention was on Jasprit Bumrah's comeback. But Nitish Reddy, not generally regarded as a threat as a big red-ball hitter, was the one taking the limelight in the morning session. He was introduced into the attack after the drinks break. In his very first over, he struck an instant blow. Firstly, he dismissed Ben Duckett for 23, caught by Rishabh Pant attempting to play a glance down leg side. Then, only three balls later, Zak Crawley edged one behind to the keeper attempting to play a defensive stroke off a ball that came in late. Crawley had played some decent shots before being dismissed for 18. The highlight moment that stood out even further arrived in the 16th over. Nitish bowled a surprise short ball that bounced high off the ground. Joe Root, till then looking so calm, was taken aback. He initially stepped forward as if to drive but had to quickly pull back because the ball swept past his head and into Pant's gloves. Akash Deep has struggled to contain runs, while Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah has failed to scalp a wicket. However, they have restricted the England batters to score quick runs in the first two sessions of the Day 1 at Lord's.
