A terrible confusion between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal on Day 2 of IND vs WI 2nd Test left the left hander without a well-deserved double century. The left-hander was able to make 175 runs when he was dismissed, courtesy some irresponsible running and the Indian captain denying him at the eleventh hour. Jaiswal could only contribute two runs to his score on Day 2. Jaiswal falls agonizingly short of a well-deserved double century The mishap was witnessed in the second delivery of the 92nd over. Jaiswal sprinted after hitting a full ball to the mid-on area but was denied by Gill on the opposite side. Having understood it too late, Jaiswal could not make his ground as keeper Tevin Imlach was able to gather the ball and demolish the stumps. The Indian opener stared at his partner in disbelief as his golden opportunity to make his third double century in India was tossed out of the window. After managing just 36 runs in the 1st Test, the southpaw asserted himself against the visitors with a 145-ball century, assisting India to carry on their supremacy in the match. No opener in the world has made as many hundreds as Jaiswal has since his Test debut. Nobody has even hit 5 hundreds, whereas the Indian opener has 7 to his name at the top. His centuries have been hit in 48 innings, 2 less than Graeme Smith. It may still be premature, but Jaiswal is staking a claim to be the greatest modern day opener in Tests.
