On the second day of their Duleep Trophy match, Shreyas' India D bowled against India A. While India D was able to bowl India A out for 290 runs, in reply they could only manage to return 183 runs. Devdutt Padikkal, being the top scorer for India D, scored 92, whereas the number three batsman Shreyas got out on a duck facing only seven balls. He even surprised people by coming to bat in sunglasses. Batting lower down the order, Harshit Rana chipped in with 31 runs. Openers Mayank Agarwal and Pratham Singh batted confidently in India A's second innings with a lead of 107 runs. Both made half-centuries at the end of the day. Shreyas decided to bowl the last over of the day and struck with his first ball. Mayank, who was also the opposition captain, mistimed his shot and Shreyas took a great diving catch to break a 115-run partnership. This was only the fifth first-class wicket for Shreyas and his first since December 2018. He had previously removed Quinton de Kock, Keshav Maharaj, Aditya Waghmode and Chetan Sakariya. Across formats, this was his first wicket since November 2019 when he had removed Amit Sinha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Last month, Shreyas also made his mark in the Buchi Babu tournament as a bowler, employing the same kind of action as Kolkata Knight Riders team-mate, West Indian bowling superstar Sunil Narine.
