Shimron Hetmyer struck a six on the final ball to assist Seattle Orcas in defeating MI New York in the 2025 Major League Cricket match at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. 6 runs were required off the last ball, Hetmyer smashed Kieron Pollard to deep fine leg for a massive six and sealed the match in style. It was a dream finish for any cricketer. Earlier, MI New York captain Nicholas Pooran handed the ball over to Pollard to defend 9 runs in the final over. Number-nine batsman Jessy Singh couldn't rotate the strike until the third ball. Hetmyer scored just two runs from the subsequent two balls. And then came the last ball, and he sealed it off with a six. Kieron Pollard attempted to bowl a short ball on the body with his slow approach, expecting to get the better of Shimron Hetmyer. However, the ball sailed more towards the leg side. Hetmyer bent down, got underneath the ball, and pulled it over the keeper's head for a huge six. This shot won the game and had his teammates celebrate as if he was Superman. They were pursuing a mammoth target of 238, which had been posted by MI New York captain Nicholas Pooran's century and 95 by Tajinder Dhillon. Hetmyer joined to bat at a time when Orcas were reeling at 107/4 in the eighth over. Soon to follow was Heinrich Klaasen's exit, and the lower-order batsmen followed suit. Hetmyer maintained most of the strike and ensured the demanded run-rate remained in hand. Even though he had a minor injury, he struck 18 runs from the 16th over and 23 runs from the 19th over to set up the final-over finish. In the post-match interview to Cricbuzz, Hetmyer said: "This one is one of the best, because our backs were against the wall and I'm still grimacing over the last game where we couldn't cross the line. Today is one of those days, where I went with a clear mind and wanted to take the game as deep as possible. That (injury) actually gave me a little bit of help, because I didn't want to run much." This victory was even more sweet as it broke the Orcas' 10-game losing streak.
