A highlight of the day was during the 28th over of the innings when West Indian batsman Shai Hope hit a sublime stroke off Mitchell Starc which left onlookers as well as analysts stunned. It was a more full delivery aimed at the off stump; Hope came down on front foot and played the full face of the bat, driving it to covers the ground for a lovely boundary. On Day 2, following the loss of Brandon King prematurely, skipper Roston Chase and Hope have a useful 63-run stand, placing their side in an improved position. Chase is closing in on a gritty half-century with 44 runs to his credit, with good support from Hope, who was batting on 31. Earlier, Keacy Carty and Brandon King ensured the ship was steadied on Day 1 after West Indies lost both openers cheaply with only 16 runs on the board. For the visitors, Australia, it has been a tough second day here in Barbados. Following a poor batting effort in Day 1, when they were bowled out for just 180 runs, their bowlers also fought hard in the last session by taking out the opposition's top and middle order. The pace trio have once again risen to the occasion Starc and Josh Hazlewood each took two wickets, while skipper Pat Cummins picked up the important wicket of Carty. The second-placed teams from the last World Test Championship (WTC) cycle will be hoping to seal it in a hurry as action unfolds today.
