DC-W won the toss and chose to field first. Right-arm pacer Shikha Pandey knocked over the ominous Hayley Matthews in the very first over. There was a solid 32-run stand by opener Yastika Bhatia and Nat Sciver-Brunt before setting the base before Pandey sent Bhatia packing for 11 runs. Out came Harmanpreet Kaur and blasted her way to a nicely crafted 42 runs off 22 balls, hitting four boundaries and three sixes. A 73-run, 40-ball partnership with Sciver-Brunt brought the batters to the crease to take the innings to a high score from there. But that did not materialize. All subsequent batters registered single-digit scores. Sciver-Brunt battled single-handedly to end on 80* off 59 balls with 13 boundaries. MI-W were bowled out for 164 in the final over. For DC-W, Pandey was the star bowler with the figures of 2/14 in four overs. In response, DC-W started the pursuit on a high. Shafali Verma accepted the responsibility to score runs in haste, scoring a blistering 43 runs from 18 balls. Skipper Meg Lanning (15 from 19) gave Verma decent support at the other end. DC-W's fortune took a turn for the worse when both of them fell in close proximity. Jemimah Rodrigues too failed to get into the act as she got out for two runs. The Delhi franchise was left struggling at 66/3 after 7.5 overs. Batters in store had vital cameos. Among them, Sarah Bryce (21 off 10) and Niki Prasad (35 off 33) were notable. Pendulum was constantly swinging. A turning point arose in the final over when two runs were required off two balls. Set Prasad opted for the glory shot but got caught deep. The final ball witnessed number 10 Arundhati Reddy chip the ball in the cover area. Harmanpreet was unable to reach in time to take the catch but was fast enough to throw at the keeper's end to bring about a possible run out. The call was extremely close and the third umpire thought the batter had just managed to get back to her ground. DC-W won the game by two wickets in the end. Amelia Kerr was the top bowler for MI-W with 2/21 figures.
