A bizarre incident occurred during the drawn fourth Test between India and England at Manchester's Old Trafford when a spectator in a Pakistan cricket jersey was requested by stadium security to cover it. The clip of the incident has gone viral on social media, giving rise to debates among cricket supporters. The fan, named by Pakistani media as Farooq Nazar, had on Pakistan's green limited-overs shirt during the match. A member of Lancashire's security team can be heard in the video posted online saying, "I've been asked by control if you can cover that shirt up, please." Another staff member added the shirt "might be considered nationalistic. Nazar, looking agitated by the consistent demands, refused to cover the jersey, stating no Indian supporters in his vicinity had an issue with it. More security personnel and a police officer showed up as the situation developed. The officer requested Nazar to exit the stands so they could proceed with the discussion in private. Reports indicate the supporter ultimately opted to exit the field instead of covering up his top. Venue rules reportedly state that fans must wear apparel supporting only the participating teams, in this case, India or England, during international matches. However, many fans online have called the action unnecessary, saying the jersey did not disrupt the game. The incident came on the back of a match in which India registered an unforgettable escape, batting for 143 overs following the fall of two quick wickets.
