In India's Group A showdown against the United Arab Emirates in the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, there was one moment of brilliance by Sanju Samson that put India on the right path in the field. It was early in the UAE innings, on the first over's fifth delivery, when India's ace Jasprit Bumrah missed his line by a fraction and pushed the ball down the leg side way too far. The ball could have easily sprinted to the boundary, gifting UAE five extra runs. But Samson, India's wicket-keeper, displayed exceptional reflexes and athleticism. He dived length-wise to his left, stretching every inch of his body to take the ball cleanly and not allow it to go past. The action was not merely about saving runs it was about demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm from the very beginning. Samson's keen glovework kept India on the boil as well as in command in the all-important initial phase of the match. Having decided to bowl first on a new pitch, the Men in Blue gained the upper hand in the match quickly. UAE's Alishan Sharafu showed resistance in the powerplay early on, leading his team to 41 runs, but his gallant stand ended as Jasprit Bumrah produced a deadly yorker to get rid of him. The momentum then completely shifted from there. Kuldeep Yadav joined the attack and bowled a superb spell, claiming three wickets off one over to rip through the UAE middle order. And if that was not enough, Shivam Dube, the occasional bowler, emerged as the surprise package. He took three wickets in 10 balls and left UAE in complete disarray. The match was very much in India's hands and close to a comfortable victory with India needing only 58 runs to chase.
