Sanju Samson has usually gone through high and lows in his international career, hardly ever getting regular chances in the XI. Things began to turn with Gautam Gambhir as India's head coach. Samson has been a regular in the T20I team since last year's World Cup, and he has also made the most of the opportunities and even scored three centuries. In spite of this excellent form, his position in the Asia Cup 2025 team is not guaranteed. With Shubman Gill being back in the setup and very much likely to open with Abhishek Sharma, Samson's place can be at risk. Jitesh Sharma, who made an impact with his finisher's role for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, is also in the running as he brings more experience to the lower order. Nevertheless, Samson has never allowed these setbacks to get into his mind. At India's second training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai, he exhibited his typical calm demeanor. As soon as the team bus arrived at the venue, fans started yelling out players' names. When Samson got off the bus, a young fan shouted to him, most likely for a selfie or an autograph. Samson, though in a rush, didn't disappoint the fan. Smiling, he assured the boy, "Aata hu beta baad me (I will come later)." Sanju Samson Pulls Off Unbelievable in KCL Samson's Place Under Debate Ahead of Asia Cup 2025 India have been grouped in Group A along with Pakistan, UAE, and Oman. They start their campaign on September 10 against the UAE and then the electric encounter against Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai. Before the tournament, batting icon Sunil Gavaskar supported Samson to be a part of the playing XI. In his opinion, Samson must get a chance over Jitesh Sharma for at least the first few games before form would decide from the management. While fans and cricket pundits want Samson to be a part of India's playing XI in this continental tournament, it will be interesting to see at which position the management asks the 30-year-old to bat.
