Sanju Samson is back in the spotlight after a video from the Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals went viral. The clip shows Samson walking away from a team huddle that included head coach Rahul Dravid just before the Super Over. The moment has sparked speculation online about a possible rift within the Royals camp. On Wednesday, RR tied with DC at Arun Jaitley Stadium, with both teams scoring 188 runs in their 20 overs. It went down to a Super Over where RR left out Nitish Rana, who had scored 51 off 28 balls. Instead, they sent Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, and Yashasvi Jaiswal to bat. However, the move didn’t work as RR managed only 11 runs in the Super Over and lost the game. Samson is seen nearby but does not join the group. A player appears to speak to him, but the RR skipper walks away. Samson's reaction sparked debate as many fans wondered if there was any tension within the side, especially after he retired hurt earlier in the match following a 31 off 19 balls. I knew there was definitely a rift within the setup when there were absolutely no discussions or chat in the dugout before the super over.Everyone was standing quite in a circle in the dugout.Look at Sanju's hand signal in the first video,he is deliberately ignoring everyone. https://t.co/DfxmlwGgBG pic.twitter.com/688ji3MXrS — Delhi Capitals Fan (@pantiyerfc) April 17, 2025 'Management is the one who decides': Nitish Rana After the match, Nitish Rana explained the call to not send him in during the Super Over. He said the decision was made by the team management. “This is never the decision of one person. It's always the management and the support staff, as they can discuss and make a decision on these things. I feel that if this result were in our favour, then the question would have been different. So, this game of cricket is a result-oriented game.” Nitish Rana also backed Shimron Hetmyer, saying that he had delivered in the past as a finisher for the team. "If Hetmyer had hit two sixes, you wouldn't have asked the same question. Hetmyer is our finisher. Everyone knows this, and he has delivered in the past. There are a lot of things that we could have squeezed a little more, and the tied game from that one run shouldn't have happened. But this is the result,” said Rana. For now, there’s no official word from RR about the viral video. But it’s added a new twist to their campaign, just as the playoff race tightens. Rajasthan Royals, who are currently in the 8th spot with two wins and five losses, will return to action on Saturday, where they will take on Lucknow Super Giants.
