The innings revolved around Samson's unflustered knock of 56 off 45 balls, comprising three fours and three massive sixes. His relaxed attitude gave the side much-needed solidity after the loss of an early wicket. Accompanied by Samson, young opener Abhishek Sharma also had a blazing cameo, hitting 38 runs from only 15 balls. His aggressive hitting in the powerplay saw India making a rapid start and mounting pressure on Oman's bowling unit. Even with the middle-order collapses, the contribution from Samson and Abhishek saw India breach the 180-run barrier, providing their bowlers with sufficient buffer to defend. Whereas Samson and Abhishek took the honours with the willow, Oman was able to put India in the shackles in the middle and death overs. Faisal, though on the receiving end of Samson's highest six, took important wickets towards the latter part of the innings. Their bowlers bowled disciplined lines in the last overs to curtail what seemed a 200-plus score at one point.
