Sanju Samson of India bashed and smashed his way into the third T20I against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, 12 October, opening the innings for India and thereafter registering his third T20I fifty in just 22 balls that paved the way for a massive win for India against the bowlers of Bangladesh. The most exciting moment was the 10th over in which Samson went after the wrist spinner, Rishad Hossain, and he rewarded him with five successive sixes. The dot ball came on the first ball, but he recovered with a six on the second ball that went over the bowler's head, taking India's score to 100 in 9.2 overs. Samson continued with the third ball of the overlong-off to hit his third six. Fourth and fifth deliveries followed and sailed over the bowler's head for two more sixes. Samson ended the over by launching the last ball over deep mid-wicket for the fifth six consecutively. He equalled the feat achieved by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma against Australia in 2023. Rinku Singh and Rohit Sharma against Afghanistan early this year, while Yuvraj Singh against England in 2007 scored more with 36 runs in an over. Samson bailed himself out through his blistering knock. Eventually hammering Hossain, he reached his maiden T20I century off just 40 balls. His knock was filled with 11 fours and eight sixes, which fetched him a well-deserved milestone. His innings was cut short when he was caught at deep square leg off Mustafizur Rahman's bowling for 111 runs from 47 balls. As he walked back to the pavilion, the Hyderabad crowd gave him a standing ovation for his superb innings that helped India to be in complete control of the match.
