India were given an early boost in the second semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 when Sanju Samson was dropped by England captain Harry Brook on the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (March 5). The incident occurred in the third over of India's batting innings, England pace bowler Jofra Archer was bowling to Samson, mistimed a shot, and the ball went straight into the hands of the England captain who had a relatively straightforward catch to take. But he failed to hold on to the ball. When Brook dropped Samson he was batting on 15 off just 7 balls, giving the Indian opener a massive reprieve in an important match. After a fortunate break he came back stronger against the England paceman Jofra Archer in the very same over. On the 4th ball of the over Samson hammered the delivery down to long on for a six. He followed that up by carving an Archer delivery through the covers for a boundary on the last ball of the over. These two shots in particular helped India achieve some crucial momentum in the first semi-final of the World T20. Samson had already got off to a positive start for the Indians in the batting innings by scoring a boundary of Jofra Archer on the 3rd ball of the first over of the innings and then a massive six on the 4th delivery of the innings. India have lost a wicket at the other end meanwhile. All rounder Will Jacks bowled Abhishek Sharma out in the second over of the innings. Abhishek tried to hit the ball big and holed out to Phil Salt, having scored 9 runs off 7 balls. This semi-final is an extremely important for both the sides and the winners are set to meet the other finalist at the World T20 2026. It should prove to be a cracking match on a bigger stage and between two extremely good sides.
