Star batter Sameer Rizvi, overlooked by Uttar Pradesh's Vijay Hazare Trophy team, has been simply sublime at the Under-23 One Day State A tournament. On Wednesday, he scored his second successive double century within days, displaying an exhibition of batting fireworks. Uttar Pradesh was chasing an enormous target of 407 runs against Vidarbha in Vadodara when Rizvi came out to bat at No. 4 in the 13th over and alongside wicketkeeper Siddiqui, he made for an incredible partnership, bringing in 296 runs just in 173 balls. Siddiqui scored 91 runs off 68 balls, but Rizvi was the show-stealer with his unbeaten 202 runs off just 105 balls, hitting 10 fours and 18 sixes. Rizvi had just smashed another double century against Tripura U23 four days back, when he hit 201 off just 97 balls. That was the fastest double century of the tournament as it came with 20 sixes and 13 fours. He had scored centuries in earlier matches too against Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
