Pakistan A spinner Saad Masood gave a send-off to India A batter Naman Dhir during their Asia Cup Rising Stars match in Doha on Sunday. The moment came during the ninth over when Masood dismissed Dhir, who had hit him for a boundary earlier. On the fourth ball of the over, Dhir played a paddle sweep that ran away towards fine leg for four. But on the very next delivery, he mistimed a shot and chipped the ball straight to extra cover. Pakistan A captain Irfan Khan completed a simple catch. Right after the dismissal, Masood pointed towards the dugout signaling Dhir to walk back. Dhir did not react and quietly left the field. The send-off became the talking point as the rivalry between the two sides always brings extra tension. India A and Pakistan A took the field with confidence as both teams had registered victories in their opening Group B games, India beating the UAE and Pakistan beating Oman. Having asked to bat first, India A posted just 136 on the board, losing all 10 wickets in 19 overs. Young southpaw Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again led the batting from the front, scoring 45 off 35. Only Naman Dhir, apart from Vaibhav, managed to contribute with his 35 off 20. Rest of the players failed to capitalize despite a good start. Bright Start for India A in the Tournament The most talked about feature of India A in the tournament so far is the phenomenal form of 14-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi, playing against the UAE, reached a century off mere 32 balls to become the joint second fastest Indian to score a T20 hundred. He hit 15 sixes and 11 fours to reach 144 runs from only 42 balls. His innings equaled Rishabh Pant’s 32-ball ton scored for Delhi in 2018. Skipper Jitesh Sharma played an aggressive inning too, making 83 off 32 deliveries, as India A posted a huge total of 297/4 in 20 overs.
