During the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament match against Chhattisgarh at Velachery's Guru Nanak College, Ruturaj Gaikwad provided budding cricketers at the Super Kings Academy with a memory to cherish. After play on the second day, CSK skipper met the academy children and enjoyed some lighthearted banter which had the whole crowd in stitches. When Gaikwad asked the children which IPL team they liked, they yelled back in chorus, "CSK, CSK!". But the game of fun really started when he asked again: "Any other teams you like in IPL?" There called some children Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI), to which there was a humorous response from Gaikwad. With a mischievous grin, he exclaimed "Out, out!" and followed up with, "Put up your hand if you cheer for other teams… Everyone will remember your name and won't select you in CSK in the IPL." Chhattisgarh beat Maharashtra by 35 runs in the All-India Buchi Babu Invitational tournament's first round. Chasing a humble target of 185, Maharashtra's batting order failed against the genius of leg-spinner Shubham Agarwal, who posted dream figures of 6/33. With a courageous effort, the top order of Maharashtra collapsed after giving away a first-innings advantage. Ayush Pandey was Chhattisgarh's main contributor, who scored a vital 49 runs in the second innings when wickets fell around him in a regular basis. On his outing, Pandey said: "Glad that our side won, good to have scored. I have been picked to play for Central one in the c. So felt that this (Buchi Babu) tournament was good exposure for Duleep Trophy. Happy with my performance in the second innings (49)." He also stated: "Last season has also given me immense confidence. I was man of the series in the Buchi Babu tournament as well. That boosted my confidence as well. I am looking forward to doing well this year in the Duleep Trophy too and for the upcoming season as well." At one stage, Maharashtra had set their hopes on Gaikwad to lead the chase. But Varun Singh sent him back with a peach of a delivery, tilting the game in Chhattisgarh's favour. Agarwal then took charge with his spin magic, wrapping up the match.
